Modifications/Repairs: N/AThe 1981 Peavey T-60 in Black (SN: 00945016) is a standout example of Peavey’s groundbreaking early-’80s craftsmanship. As one of the first guitars ever produced using CNC manufacturing techniques, the T-60 gained a reputation for its impressive build consistency, rugged reliability, and exceptional tonal flexibility. This particular model, built in the USA, showcases the iconic ash double-cutaway body paired with a smooth maple bolt-on neck—an unmistakable combination that delivers both clarity and punch.
The ash body provides articulate highs and strong midrange definition, giving the T-60 a lively and responsive acoustic character. Its maple neck and 12" radius fingerboard offer a comfortable, fast feel with excellent note separation, while the 25.5" scale length contributes to its snappy attack and tight low end. With a 1.5" nut width, this guitar has a slightly slimmer feel at the nut, ideal for players who appreciate speed and precision.
A major hallmark of the T-60 is its versatile electronics. The two blade-style humbuckers are wired for automatic coil-splitting as the tone knobs are rolled back, allowing the guitar to shift seamlessly from thick humbucking warmth to crisp single-coil clarity. Combined with its 3-way selector, players have access to a wide range of tones—from bright country twang to rich blues growl and punchy rock drive.
Hardware is solid and reliable, featuring Peavey’s durable tuners and a string-through hardtail bridge for excellent sustain and tuning stability. The timeless Black finish complements the guitar’s clean, purposeful aesthetic, staying true to the utilitarian charm that made the T-series so beloved.
