The 2023 Fender Custom Shop Willcutt True '62 Stratocaster Journeyman in Fiesta Red is a stunning re-creation of a golden-era Strat, crafted exclusively for Willcutt Guitars by Fender’s master builders. This model embodies the spirit and tone of a well-preserved early-'60s Strat, with meticulous attention to period-correct specs and materials.
The alder body wears a lightly aged Journeyman relic finish—subtle checking and tasteful wear give it just the right amount of vintage vibe without going over the top. The neck is a quartersawn maple with a slab rosewood fingerboard, shaped to a comfortable 57 style soft "V" profile that feels immediately familiar in the hand. With a 9.50" radius and narrow tall frets, it offers effortless playability for both chording and expressive bends.
Under the hood, the hand-wound Custom Shop pickups deliver a dynamic and balanced tonal palette—from warm, bell-like neck tones to snappy bridge attack—complemented by vintage-spec wiring and a 5-way selector switch for modern flexibility.
Other period-correct touches include clay dot inlays, single-ply mint green pickguard, and vintage-style hardware throughout. It’s a faithful nod to the early Stratocaster legacy, with Custom Shop precision and a feel that will satisfy the most discerning Strat enthusiast.
