The 1972 Gibson SG Standard in its iconic Dark Cherry finish is a stellar example of Gibson’s early-'70s craftsmanship and design ethos. This SG features a resonant mahogany body and neck, delivering that unmistakable warmth and sustain that defines the model. 
A Brazilian rosewood fingerboard provides a smooth, vintage-correct playing surface, while the slim, fast neck profile and 1 9/16" nut width make for an agile and comfortable feel. The classic full-face batwing pickguard houses a pair of original patent number humbuckers, known for their punchy, articulate tone—ideal for anything from gritty rhythm work to soaring lead lines.
This SG is equipped with chrome hardware and the long Maestro Vibrola tailpiece, a signature feature of this era. The original Kluson Deluxe tuners with double-ring buttons round out the vintage aesthetic and functionality.
Structural improvements made during this period—such as a stronger neck joint with a rounded heel—addressed the fragility found in earlier '60s SGs, making this version notably more roadworthy.
