Otherwise in 7/10 condition. The 1967 Gibson ES-345 TDC in Cherry stands as an evocative representation of Gibson’s mid-’60s craftsmanship—an era celebrated for its refined aesthetics, resonant semi-hollow construction, and expressive tonal character. This example captures the essence of the ES lineage, delivering the harmonic depth, articulate midrange, and lively airiness that have made these instruments indispensable to players across genres.
Constructed from laminated maple/poplar/maple, the body provides a balanced acoustic voice with excellent definition and projection. The vibrant Cherry finish highlights the guitar’s elegant contours and multi-ply binding, offering a bold visual presence that perfectly complements its classic double-cutaway design. From smooth jazz comping to soulful blues leads and vintage-flavored rock tones, this ES-345 responds with nuance, clarity, and musical warmth.
The mahogany neck pairs with the bound rosewood fingerboard to create a fast, inviting playing feel, while the narrower late-’60s nut width contributes to the guitar’s effortless, sleek response.
Originally designed with stereo wiring and a six-position Varitone, this ES-345 retains its dual Patent No. humbuckers—delivering the unmistakable, harmonically rich voice associated with Gibson’s golden-era pickups. Please note that the Varitone circuit has been rewired from stereo to mono, and as a result, the Varitone switch is non-functional.
