The Kay K580 Galaxie in its original sunburst finish is a striking example of early-to-mid '60s American catalog guitar design, offering a unique blend of retro flair and garage rock grit. Built during the golden era of Kay’s Chicago production, the Galaxie reflects the bold aesthetic and inventive spirit that made these instruments a staple of the emerging rock ‘n’ roll scene.

Constructed with a lightweight poplar body and paired with a bolt-on neck featuring a bound rosewood fingerboard, the K580 is as comfortable as it is eye-catching. The slim, fast-playing neck make it ideal for chording, riffing, and expressive lead work, while the compact body adds to its vintage charm and ease of play.

This instrument has been professionally set up in-house and plays cleanly up and down the neck. Cosmetic wear includes light checking in the finish, minor scuffs, and some age-related patina on the hardware—all consistent with a well-preserved example from this era and adding to its undeniable mojo. The back of the headstock has an area of removed finish, as shown in the photos.
