This 1960 Truetone Speed Demon—built by Kay for Western Auto’s house brand—is a vibey, vintage semi-hollow that’s fresh from our repair shop and ready to hit the stage. With thoughtful restoration work and classic Kay character, it’s a standout example of the quirky, bluesy tone these instruments are known for.

The fingerboard has been fully leveled and professionally refretted with Jescar fretwire, offering smooth, clean playability across all 19 frets. A new bone nut adds clarity and improved tuning stability, further enhanced by the installation of new Kluson tuners. The original bridge pickup has been rewound recently.

Its long 25 3/4" scale contributes to a taut, articulate response, perfect for everything from swampy chords to cutting leads. This instrument has been fully set up by our in-house luthiers and is ready for the stage/studio!

Please note: there may be cosmetic wear consistent with age. Refer to the photos for a closer look, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
